Debian – a project of free distribution of the GNU/Linux and GNU/kFreeBSD operating systems carried out by volunteers around the world. There are also projects within Debian to create GNU/Hurd distributions, other BSD variants, and even free software distributions for the Windows platform.

The Debian project was started in 1993 by Ian Murdock and its current stable version is “Jessie”. In addition to the stable version, a test version, an unstable version and an experimental version, which is not intended for use, are also being developed.

antiX is a Live distribution intended for older computers. The default system desktop is IceWM. AntiX is intended to provide a lightweight but fully functional operating system. Until version 11, antiX was based on SimplyMepis. Since version 12, antiX is built from scratch on Debian stable packages.

MX is a Linux distribution based on antiX. The system uses the Xfce desktop by default. The project is developed in cooperation with the Mepis distribution community.

6. Slax
Slax is a Linux distribution built on Slackware by Tomáš Matějíček. The system is built of modules that can be added or removed, which affects the speed of the system. Starting with version 9.2.1, Slax is also based on Debian.

7. Deepin
deepin (previously: Deepin, Linux Deepin, Hiweed GNU/Linux, Hiwix) is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu that aims to provide an elegant and user-friendly operating system. The system has been in development since 2004 and originally launched as Hiwix 0.1 in February 2004. At that time it was based on Morphix and equipped with the IceWM window manager.

8. Tails
Tails (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) is a Live Linux distribution for safe and anonymous use of the Internet. It was built on Debian from the stable branch. The system is a continuation of the Incognito LiveCD project, which was based on Gentoo Linux.
